Dylan Halliday Wins 2023 ATW Solo Competition

The finals of the 2023 American Trombone Workshop National Classical Bass Trombone Solo Competitions took place on March 8th, at Brucker Hall, home of the United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own”. Dylan Halliday was one of 3 finalists in the Division II Bass Trombone Solo Competition for ages 19-23. The required solo was Elizabeth Raum’s Concerto for Bass Trombone. After the final round of competition, Dylan was selected as the winner!

The American Trombone Workshop is a wonderful annual event hosted by the trombone section of the USAB, and featuring performances by the Washington Trombone Ensemble, the Capitol Bones, the United States Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, the United States Army Band, the United States Army Orchestra, and numerous guest artists, and university trombone ensembles.

This was the third consecutive year the OSU Trombone Studio has had an ATW National Solo Competition Winner. Christa Naber won the Division I Bass Trombone Solo Competition in 2022, and Jordan Davenport won the Division II Bass Trombone Solo Competition in 2021.
